A place where art and nature converse

The Vanessa Cardui artist residency project, conceived by Giuseppina Pisciotta Tosini and curated by Maria Rosa Sossai, is located on the eponymous farm in the municipality of Collesano, in the Pozzetti district. Here, amidst centuries-old olive trees and ancient, native fruit trees—citrus, mulberry, fig, persimmon, plum, walnut, and almond—an ecosystem takes shape, interweaving cultivation, biodiversity, and artistic research.

At the heart of this landscape, a gebbia (traditional Sicilian water cistern) fed by a spring marks the rhythm of nature, while two small rural houses welcome both visitors and artists in residence, offering them a space for immersion and creation.

Artist residency

Vanessa Cardui: A place to create, observe, and be permeated by the landscape.

We chose the name Vanessa Cardui, inspired by the migratory butterfly that crosses continents, weaving relationships between the places it traverses. Similarly, the residencies aim to foster the circulation of ideas, thoughts, and actions, spreading a culture that observes and learns from nature, recognizing in its dynamics a model of balance and sustainability.

The artistic projects that will come to life in this context will open themselves to dialogue with the territory, creating alliances with museums, foundations, associations, and active citizens, in a process of mutual sharing and transformation.
